How do I partition one partition out of two only?

I finished erasing one part of the 1TB drive. Now I want/would like to open it up to the other partition.  Ultimately going back to just one whole 1TB partition.

To recap:

Before I partitioned a 1TB hard drive into two 500GB drives. Drive1 & Drive 2

Yesterday I erased one of the partitions using Disk Utility.

Now I want to make the whole drive one partition again.  Just DRIVE1 at 1TB.

HOW CAN I ACCOMPLISH THIS WITHOUT LOSING WHAT IS ON THE OTHER PARTITION?

The other partition has a working OS on it. An extra OS 10.12.6.

As long as the partition that you want to resize is not the last one on the drive, you should be able to resize it using Disk Utility without losing data. So, in your case, you should be able to enlarge Drive 1, but not Drive 2.
