Why does Photos crash when I plug in my iPhone?

Every time I plug my brand new iPhone 7 in, the Photos app opens, attempts to load all my pictures (no more than 250), succeeds, but when I scroll through the pictures, it crashes! Not sure what to do, all my software is up to date. Could use some help, Thanks!!
