iTunes stops playing samples after browsing for...

I have iTunes 12.6.2.20 on 64 bit Windows 7 and during the last 2 nights browsing and playing samples, iTunes has stopped playing samples after maybe an hour or so.  Yesterday I closed iTunes and restarted the application and still it wouldn't play samples.  On closing the application I started Task Manager and saw that an iTunes process was still using around 500MB - 600MB of memory, despite the application not showing as running.  Tonight, it has done the same, except the process was using 950MB of memory with the application closed.  I had made several purchases during this time browsing.

If I used Task Manager to end the iTunes process, then re-launched iTunes, the problem was resolved.  I don't know whether this issue is designed in to the program to purge browsers from the store after a period of time or whether there is a bug in this release of the software which is not purging cached samples from memory.

Windows 7 is patched up-to-date so maybe it is an issue with iTunes failing to address a recent Windows patch, however I only updated iTunes to this version within the last week or so.

If you have this issue, it can be solved by ending the iTunes process in Task Manager, but of course restarting your PC would also achieve the same result .
