Unable to find most recent iTunes library

For some reason my iTunes (on my Macbook Air) opened an old iTunes library from a few years ago and now I can't get my most recent one back.

I've tried all the advice on other forums about going to the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and dragging and renaming. And this DOES work, but the problem is that whichever previous library I choose (even recent ones), I still get the same library from a few years ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

(I don't think it's important, but I keep all of my iTunes library on a external Mini USB drive)

Hi Luke,

Try this: quit iTunes, then reopen it while holding down the Option key. This will give you a choice of creating a new library or choosing an existing one. Find your way to the version of the file iTunes Library.itl that you'd like to use, and select that.

You might also find some useful information here: If you don't see your entire library after you update iTunes on your Mac or PC - Apple Support

Hello Richard,

Thanks for the reply.

I just tried that and the same thing happened. It opened up,  but I just got the same old library.

Luke
