Why is Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 not updating/insta...

The App Store keeps telling me that a Security Update (Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6) is available, but every time I click 'Update' or 'Update All', a prompt requests to restart my Macbook Air. When I select 'Install Now', another prompt says, "Available updates have changed. Click "Show Details" to see the available updates." Nothing happens after I click 'Show Details.'

I've trying downloading 10.12.6 combo and installing it, but 'About my Mac' still shows that I'm running 10.12.5, and the App Store is still showing that an update to 10.12.6 is available.

What do I need to do to get this new security update installed?

So the manual update failed too? In that case reinstall Safari from Recovery Mode: About macOS Recovery - Apple Support. But make a backup first!

This happened to me today for a friend I was helping. MacBook Air mid 2012, macOS 10.12.5.

Neither *my 10.12.6 combo, nor the one I downloaded from Apple support would install... and the app store showed "No updates available". I had run Disk Warrior on it right before via bootable flash drive. All seemed fine. Have never seen this behavior on a modern Mac... strange.
