my apple watch series 3 wont connect to celluer

Same here.   Setup and linking to Vz went through without an issue, but if I power off my phone I see a Red X indicator on the watch.   Going into cellular menu on the watch says "no connection".   I am sure this will be sorted out with a WatchOS update, but this is not acceptable for Apple to be releasing a product who's main addition (LTE) isn't working on Day 1.  

UPDATE:   About 5 hours after setting up watch I got text from Vz stating NumberShare extension sharing had been added and after that the watch connected to Cellular, so there might just be some initial delays with the setup process.
