can i swap my old magsafe plug for a USB C for ...

I no longer have my 2011 MBP and am getting a new one, with the USB C connector. Would there be any issue with me simply buying a new Apple USB C snap on plug (assuming Apple is still using this type of connector) and using these older power supplies with the new Mac?
