Removing Icon top Right Hand Corner MAC
Hello - Reading a thread on here very similar to what is described below! The icon is malwarebytes icon which I have uninstalled through clean my mac, the icon is still there and can't get rid! Tried everything below please help!
Good morning, folks! I hope someone is still 'monitoring' this thread...I, too, have an icon on the right side of my taskbar that I cannot get rid of.
About a year ago, I had to leave my iMac behind becasue I took a temproary job 1100 miles away..so I installed Go to my PC so I could link up with the Mac with my McBook AIr if I needed some files, etc. When I returned home, I uninstalled Go to my PC because I did not need it anymore. Problem is, its icon still lives in my taskbar.
After 'extensive' searching the net, mostly Mac forums, this is what I have tried so far...all with no success.
1) CTRL-dragging does not work. It's a third party icon, so this technique fails.
2) Went into System Preferences, Users and Groups, and did not see anything related to this program under Log In items to disable.
3) I then went into Activity Monitor, Disk Activity, checked ON ALL Processes, and lo and behold, there was a file pertaining to Go to my PC. I clicked on it, highlighted it, and clicked on Quit. A force Quit box came up, I answered Yes, clicked on it, and the icon disappeared!
4) I restarted my Mac, and the icon re-appeared. I tracked down that particular file again using Activity Monitor, but there isn't a way (that I know of) to DELETE that file from the Activity monitor. I can Force Quit it all day, but the icon re-appears after every fresh start up.
I sure would like to get rid of this icon....and no, there aren't any options under it, when highlighted, that gives me any means of disabling it. I even tried to use Spotlight to track down the files I found in teh Activity Monitor but it came up empty; so did a search within Finder for that particular file on my Mac. Struck out again! ;-)
Do any of you have any ideas of what else I can do to get rid of this icon? It does have over 8 megs of memory attributed to it (or at least that what Activity Monitor tells me), and although that isn't a lot, this Mac is reaching 3 years old and it needs every bit of memory I can currently have on it. ;-)
TIA for any advice you may have on this subject!
I would give a try with this: Malwarebytes | Free Cyber Security & Anti-Malware Software

Unfortunately, you uninstalled the wrong software. Malwarebytes = good, CleanMyMac = evil. If you read tons of other posts on these forums you will see examples of how CMM has borked users systems. Malwarebytes, on the other hand is used by Apple Support folks and has one of the best reputations for removing malware.
Have you tried command - dragging? Control - click/Delete?
Check for associated parts and pieces using these programs.
EasyFind – Spotlight Replacement
Try running this program in your normal account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Your error is using CleanMyMac to attempt to uninstall software. (Or, for that matter, for anything at all... apps like CleanMyMac should be avoided like the plague. Your Mac does not need this kind of "cleaning.")
Any kind of third-party uninstall app, whether it be CleanMyMac or something else, will never get every uninstall correct. They won't uninstall everything they should, or worse, they will remove something they shouldn't have. The only cases they ever get completely right are those where an uninstaller is not required.
Always look to the developer of an app for an uninstaller for that app. If an app requires an installer, it will definitely require an uninstaller. Some apps include a built-in uninstall function, others bundle the uninstaller with the installer (as in the case of Malwarebytes 3.0). Use that to remove the software, and nothing else.
In the case of apps from the Mac App Store, no uninstaller is needed. Such apps can be deleted simply by dragging them to the trash.
Hi
Go to the Malwarebytes site, get the uninstaller et voila!
