GPU UNREADINESS

Hi

After endless posts, two failed Mac Pro's and so forth. I have these two problems now:

1. Little knock sound now and then in machine.

2. Application Specific Information: Assertion failed: (false && "10 seconds of continuous GPU Driver unreadiness, relaunching WindowServer"), function void IMGGraphicsStackReadinessFailure(), file Server/Windows/Updater.cc, line 2864.

When the GPU driver fails (or machine) I am taken straight to the log in screen. Where I have to log in again.

Can anyone tell me if you are getting this? What you or someone has done to resolve it. It is either graphics failure due to a badly designed machine or a terrible software problem. I am unsure if it is just on Mac Pro as the Mac Pro forum elsewhere, known for the speed ball and GPU problem, has many people with these issues.

It used to be the spinning ball of death on my first machine that was eventually changed. This replacement machine has now all of these problems after having a new power and graphics card.

It is a poorly designed machine and Apple are choosing to leave this and start again.

Any help, opinions, ideas, are most welcome.

P.S.

After two years of this I am quite aware of may of the problems, so Etra etc won't help as proven with machines with these faults in the past.

Thanks guys.

Hi,

Not sure if you found a fix. I've experienced the same error on my MacBook Pro 13" (late 2013) since mid-May.

"Assertion failed: (false && "10 seconds of continuous GPU Driver unreadiness, relaunching WindowServer"), function void IMGGraphicsStackReadinessFailure(), file Server/Windows/Updater.cc, line 2864."

The problem persists after several clean rebuilds (no additional software installed) - approximately 5 reboots a day.

* Have done many SMC/PRAM resets

* Etrecheck reports this error, but nothing else noteworthy.

* Memtest64 hangs on Test 10 (Bit Fade Test) but I did see a post that indicates that this could be a related to an addressing bug in the Memtest software .

* There is also another symptom - the trackpad-keyboard becomes intermittently unresponsive for 2-3 seconds, this happens around 40 times a day

Having my battery replaced today (1090 cycles, declining battery life), will ask for a diagnostic test, and then also try regressing to a previous version of macOS.

Same here.. did you managed to solve ?

are you using Sierra like me ?...

I'll do a test..

First I´m going to roll back to Yosemite, if my iMac still getting the same symptom, then will install Windows, and check GPU with games, if everything work fine in Windows, then I´m forced to use it or back to Mountain Lion, that is not a good idea (because support)..   and to use a Mac computer with Windows is a joke.

I only pray for a software issue..

will try to keep thread alive with logs.

Too much people are expereancing the same problem....

Hey,

I've got Sierra 10.12.6, same problem in 10.12.5.

My Macbook runs Ubuntu Linux and run some Steam games with no problem. Also no crashes when running Sierra in Safe Mode.

A few days ago it crashed every 3 minutes... the past two days, nothing. I've also been monitoring network traffic using Little Snitch and blocked some inexplicable connections to Russian and Ukraine.

I'm busy marking crashes on a calendar to try detect a pattern, particularly around ambient light, temperature and humidity. Perhaps try this on your end too?

Hi,

I've bought a replacement Macbook in frustration, and installed Ubuntu on the faulty one.

It has been running stable, no crashes, for 2 weeks - I've been running Steam and several GPU-intensive games. Not a hint of trouble.

This is an OS issue.
