Apple Watch nike run club app voiceover periodi...

While using the Nike Run Club app on Nike+ Apple Watch, the automatic voiceover feedback happens every km, only until a certain point.  On longer runs, the voiceover only happens when I lift my wrist to wake the app up.  For instance, I might lift my wrist and the watch displays 24.7 km.  The turning wait signal appears, then the display updates to my current distance of 25.5 km, and then I get the voiceover for 25.0 km.  Is this some kind of power saver mode?  Do others notice this?  Is there a way to make sure the voiceover happens automatically through the entire run?  Thanks.
