iCloud Preferences keeps asking for my password

Seems to be a recent occurrence but now I am being asked several times a day to put in my password for iCloud.

Anyone else have this problem ?

Anyone cured this problem ?

If you have iCloud pop - ups and prompting to enter passwords and it is not removing from the desktop .

I get very tired of updating my Apple password - it's a pain in the posterior !I have 3 computers, 2 phones and an iPad and each and everyone requires updating and there is always a problem.

Beside I note the link you refer to has the opening line: "If you use iCloud Keychain in iOS 8.4 or earlier, or OS X 10.10.4 or earlier,..."

I am using Sierra ie 10.12.

and I'm not being asked to create a NEW password, just re-enter the same old one on my Mac Air.

Once it has been entered the prompt goes away ... only to re-appear a couple of hours later

The MacPro doesn't seem to have this problem nor any of my other devices.

Your iCloud Keychain seems to be corrupted , if you enter the password it accepts and after few hours it reoccurs ( and for a normal working keychain the pop - up should never appear ) .

Open system preferences > I cloud > keychains > click on options wait for a while a small circle will rotate  , a small window will appear .

The method is same for OSX Sierra 10.12.4

Do you have previous I cloud security code in your records ?

I've seen mention of this Verification Number before but I have no idea what it is (despite having used Macs for 25+ years)
I think I tried to work it out a year or so back but I quickly encountered a brick wall and "2 stage verification", which frankly is another step too far.

Why is life so hard ?

This has happened to me several times in the past, and the quickest fix I found is to sign out my Apple ID in the iCloud preference pane, and log back in.

similar problem here:

Mail, Calendar sync without problem, Mail connects to IMAP server without problem...

BUT

iCloud System Preferences panel doesn't work: list of items and buttons are greyed out, when entering the password,

they turn on the time the sheet asking for the password is there, and as soon as the sheet is dismissed, they turn grey again and you can't do anything to change the configuration

AND

iCloud Drive sync doesn't work...

Looked at the logs but nothing obvious was found.

This is on a migrated Mac (restored from the original), the original Mac iCloud control panel still works without problem.
