new iPad mini all of a sudden says NOT SET UP

new iPad mini all of a sudden says NOT SET UP. Was already set up. What happened? What to do?

I've never seen this "not set up" message. Where exactly are you seeing that? If the iPad is operating, it has to be set up.

It looks like it did when I got it out of the box. I used it this morning, eight hours later I pick it up and it says "iPad Not Set Up" and it wants me to do the whole set up process.

Have you tried restarting the iPad or resetting it to see of it returns to normal? I don't know that either one will work and you may just have to start all over again, but restarting/resetting are easy to do and won't hurt anything.

If you have to start over, you can restore from your backup if you have created one and if you haven't created a backup yet, I would imagine that you really couldn't have that much on the iPad yet anyway.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
