SSD Recommendation

Hi,

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 13" with a 750mb hard drive. This is an original hard drive and not an SSD. I need to upgrade the hard drive and would like a 1tb SSD. My problem is that I don't know which one to choose. Can someone post a link to an SSD that would work with my computer?

OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD

From my extensive experience:

 

  1. OWC SSDs - 6G models.
  2. OCZ SSDs - 6G models.
  3. Samsung - 840 and 850 models.
  4. AData SSDs - 6G SP550 models.

 

Above in general order of preference and performance, however, the performance of the Samsung 850 model is better than the other three. Note that Samsung 850 EVO models may not work in some Macs. Differences between each are minor.

And please note that all SSD's are limited to the same speed by the bus they are connected to. 6 Gigabits (Gb) which after transport via a SATA bus translates to approximately 550 Mb/s.
