Power issue with my macbook pro retina display.

So I have been having a power issue with my macbook pro, early 2014 model A1502 the last few months, and it has now become a paper weight. (Purchased 22nd January 2014)

I took steps to find out what was wrong by using google etc, and discovered the SMC reset, this didn't work in helping with the problem, but in doing my research I discovered something called screen gate, which had actually affected my computer as well. Compared to some of the images I had seen, it was quite minor but still felt it was worth mentioning when I took it to an apple store.

I mentioned the power issue as well upon dropping it off, and so they said they would take a look, not long after I had left it with them they had fixed the screen, when I mentioned the power issue and if they had found anything wrong they told me there wasn't a power issue. So in my disbelief I turned it on in the apple store to see if it would turn on and it did. So I thought my worries were over.

A few days passed and the issue started to reappear, and the power issue continued. I phoned apple support for advice and while doing so the power came back on, so the advisor told me, if it reoccurs take it to an apple store but if it has powered on for now not to worry.

So I left it in the hopes it would continue to work, which was a mistake as this has persisted.

So I took it back to the apple store and explained that the power issue is still occurring, and when I picked it up they had told me that there wasn't an issue. The technician explained that when they were holding the laptop that it started booting for them, and so they replaced the screen through the quality assurance program for free, and the only way they would be able to find out what was wrong was if the issue continued in the store.

So I left it again, and waited to hear from them again, they suggested that this could be an issue with the logic board, and set a high price for repair, so I questioned if this repair could be done through EU Consumer Law, due to me only owning the product for 3 years, and the issue occurring through no fault of my own. They denied this and stated as I hadn't notified them of the issue sooner(within the first 2 years) then they couldn't do anything. Yet I had notified them as soon as the issue started(July 2017). My argument was that how can I notify them of this issue within the first two years if the issue only occurred within the 3rd year of owning the product?
The employee in the apple store when I refused to leave it with them for repair even told me that I could sue them because of this. And yet still refused to help me in resolving this issue.

My cover ran out January 2017, which is just my luck. If you have read all of this, then thank you for your time.

I'm just really frustrated with how all of this has been dealt with, and just want some advice going forward, as I feel as though I have spent £1,110.00 on a product that was supposed to last and yet it is now become useless unless I spend a further £500 on getting it fixed, when I didn't do anything to break it.

Sorry for the long post, I just want some advice.

Thanks again for your time and patience.
