In the featured section it shows my new account but once I go to the update it shows my old account

It will, anything that you download from the store is permanently tied to the account that downloaded it, so only that account can download updates to its apps. If you want the apps linked to your new account you will have to delete them from your iPad and buy and download them on your new account.
