Itunes looses skip and play controls on keyboard

Since the newest update if a movie plays on safari or say facebook the keyboard F7-F9 which are the pause and skip buttons take control of the player in facebook. but when i close out safari or facebook i can't use those buttons to control iTunes when playing music.  Its pretty annoying since i play music while working and having to stop and open iTunes to skip a song is getting old. Is there a way to stop those buttons from working on safari? If i open a quicktime movie the controls work fine but not when i try and go back to iTunes.
