Some Folders copied from a windows pc to a macb...

I copied some folders from a windows PC (windows 10) to a macbook (macos Sierra version 10.12.6). I used an external hard drive to copy the folders. When i plug in the hard drive to the windows pc i can see all the copied folders. When i plug in the hard drive to the macbook, i can only see some of the folders. The folders on the windows pc are not hidden folders. Would be obliged if someone could assist me to resolve this issue. Thanks.
