Flickering Screen with macOs 10.12.4

Im experiencing a rare issue. My screen on my Mac is flickering after the last Mac update. This was not happening before. The screen never showed this behavior, but after the update, its happening frequently. I have an 4k monitor connected with DVI and the smonitor is showing a different flicker but showing one too.

Does anyone have a problem like this or similar? I've read that the Mac mini has a problem with black screen. This is not my case. Just flickering with weird spontaneous lines of multicolor.

Hi, I had this issue too, and after resetting my MacBooks NVRAM I solved the problem. Hold the power button down until the Mac shuts off completely, and then press it again and immediately hold down Command-Option-P-R.

Yes. I have a Mac Mini hooked up to a Dell 24" monitor via Thunderbolt. I upgraded from 10.12.3 to 10.12.4 and now my screen is turning black periodically. I'm also seeing white lines going from right to left. I've posted about it in another thread.

I recommend reporting the bug to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback

Hopefully if Apple gets enough reports, they will work on a fix.

My screen flickers too, since the update. But it's fine on my external monitor.

It mainly flickers in games, youtube-fullscreen videos, mac menu dropdown etc.

I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro screen, but external screen is working fine.

This started to happen after I made update to macOS 10.12.4.

Mostly I see white random lines in Terminal app when pressing keyboard buttons.

If I open Terminal app in fullscreen mode, then it works fine.

I have a 13" macbook pro which is connected to external screen. I experience the flickering on both screens. But I cannot reproduce it any time. Sometimes it is gone. Sometimes only youtube videos are flickering very heavily.

This is strange. And annoying.

Thanks so much @Philip. Resetting NVRAM seems to have solved the problem in my case too.

I did this and it helped for a few days. Now the flickering is back.

Unfortunately, it only helped for a few days in my case as well.

After resetting NVRAM, the problem wasn't be solved. So I went to Genius Bar, the Genius replace the motherboard for me and it seems like everything is OK right now.

Change of hw could be an option to take. But I think this is more software related, since it seems to be introduced with the 10.12.4 update. Hoping that Apple will fix this with 10.12.5

Yes, I think it is related to the 10.12.4 updates. But the problem makes my work unhappy. And I'm not sure when the fix version will be released.

Can you keep us updated if the problem comes back? If it doesn't get fixed with the next update, the change of hardware becomes a more attractive option.
