iCloud Storage Usage

I use the basic 5GB iCloud storage allocation across several iOS devices, a MacBook and a couple of windows PC's.

Photo Library is switched off on all devices. iCloud backups are not set up.

My MacBook has been configured so there is minimal content found in Desktop and Documents so there is little that is syncing to iCloud.

According to ios/macOS then my Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps have de-minimis content. iBooks has 400mb and other apps in total use much less than 200mb.

I'd have expected that I'd have well over 4GB of remaining storage out of my 5GB allocation. However, I'm receiving frequent alert messages to the effect my storage has almost been fully used and I need to manage my storage plan.

There is no content anywhere that I can manage to reduce my usage even though my iCloud "documents&data" usage is stated as 4GB.

Any ideas for resolution are welcome.
