Purchase a Watch (LTE) at Apple Store

Hi there!

I wanted to know if we have the possibility to buy the Watch (LTE) in an Apple Store, and then go to the carrier (in the UK the only provider is EE) and set it up. I would rather get it from Apple directly.

Finally, when I carry both the iPhone and the Watch, the Watch pulls the data from the cellphone via bluetooth (like the previous watches) or it continues getting all data from its LTE connection?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi

Yes, it will be possible to buy Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) from Apple and then to use it in conjunction with an EE service plan for your iPhone that supports use with Apple Watch.

You can register for updates from EE here:

The built-in cellular feature is not used when the Apple Watch has a connection with the paired iPhone.

Thanks for your quick response Jonathan.

So the watch is unlocked and won't work (by itself) until I take it to an EE store to activate the complementary plan, right?

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) is not locked to any specific carrier and has a built-in eSIM that copies information from the iPhone's SIM card.

The cellular features require a carrier plan for your iPhone that also specifically includes support for Apple Watch.

If desired, the Apple Watch can be paired, set up and used without activating the cellular feature, which can be activated at a later date via the Watch app (My Watch > Cellular).
