Monitor still flickers on startup after resetin...

macOS Sierra 10.12.6

My Samsung monitor flickers at startup before dark screen.  Repeated toggling of on-off switch brings image back long enough to find password box and input PW.  Once computer starts monitor works fine except for flickering when waking from sleep state.  I have tried reseting NVram and SMC resulting in a temporary fix. Does the community have other suggestions?

to me it sounds like a monitor hardware issue more then a software issue

monitors are pretty one interface fit all they connect by hdmi/displayport and vga or dvi and it's standard protocols

which a display just have to support

test the monitor with another computer windows, linux or mac does not really matter it could be at the end of it's feathers
