See shared albums on iCloud.com?

I often work on a Windows 7 PC and sometimes like to see my iPhone's iOS documents via my browser pointing to icloud.com.  When I click on the Photos button, however, there doesn't seem to be any way to see my shared albums.  The 'albums' that I can see are only the albums local to my iPhone in my Photo Library, not the shared albums in iCloud.

I know I can go into Windows Explorer and click on 'iCloud Photos' and then click on 'Shared', and it does show me my shared albums.  But I'd like to use my browser to see them.  Any thoughts on this? 

That's not how shared Albums work on the web. They get a URL, and are not visible from within iCloud.com.

Your subscribers would not be able to see them on iCloud.com as they would need your Apple ID and password.

Thanks.  I discovered I actually can do this easily by going into the shared album on the Photos app, tapping 'Share Link' and sending an email to myself with the link.  I click on the link, and it loads up my PC's browser and displays my photos on iCloud.com.  So non-Apple subscribers do view them on iCloud.com, and they see it exactly as I just did, on iCloud.com.  The URL that they use -- with their own Apple ID and password -- is exactly the same as I use in this way.  For some reason Apple just doesn't make this simple process available directly from the owner's iCloud.com 'home page'.  You just have to do it in a roundabout way.

Yes. They see it on iCloud.com, but not while signed in to your iCloud.com account. Two separate "spaces"

The entire shared album "feature" is not visible while you are signed in to your iCloud.com account, so there is nowhere within your icloud.com account to show you the link. It is only visible in the Photos app.

You're saying that even though I can view my shared album on my web browser, the shared album "feature" is not available.

Is that right?

The roundabout is in bypassing the fact that the shared album "feature" is not available and simply using my web browser like anyone else would to view my album.  I'm sure the fact that I have to use this roundabout to see my shared album in my browser is by design.

No. It's not visible from within your iCloud.com account.

Shared albums are managed from within the Photos app. You can create and manage regular albums on icloud.com, but not shared albums.

The bottom line is, in order to manage, in whatever way you wish, Shared Albums, you do that in your Photos app, not from within your iCloud.com account.

I know this is an old thread.

But I wanted to get my vote in that this seems like it would be a simple feature and awesome addition to icloud.com.  Make it seamless as to whether I am on my device or a browser - have 'Shared' as an option to see what has been shared with me _in icloud.com_

AND include the pics that others have shared in Albums that I started.

No brainer from a usability and customer experience perspective.

Not showing the shared albums the same as they are shown in Photos is one thing, but at least I should be able to see the photos anyway?? Now in icloud.com I cannot see even the photos from the shared album, and I cannot really understand what is the logic which photos are shown in icloud.com and which photos are not.

I think it'd ridiculous that I have to SEND MYSELF a link in order to view a shared album via web browser instead of being to access it from my iCloud account. Absolutely insane that we have to do a dumb workaround like this to see shared albums via browser. Why on earth isn't there a "shared album" folder  under the Albums folder tree.

Shared albums are not hosted in the same space as your iCloud.com account is. Shared albums are not visible at all outside an iOS/macOS Photos app unless you create the public website.

So...being that this is a feature that people obviously want...I mean it's on the phone...why wouldn't we want it on iCloud? Why do you think they don't just do this for us automatically?

Not sure a lot of people are asking for it to be automatic. 

Control and security are likely why Apple does not make a public website for your photos by default. It is a choice you make for yourself.

No I don't mean for it to automatically create a public website...automatically create a folder within iCloud so that we can have all the features on iCloud via web browser as we have on our i devices.

Apple hosts them elsewhere. If you want to view them outside of an iOS or macOS photos app,  you must make a public website and view it there.

Apple.com/feedback is where you can offer your concerns to Apple.

We understand this is not a built in feature of the iCloud website, but is the real answer that is is due to security, or is it a nudge to get people to alter all their devices to be an apple that can then run the iPhoto app? After all, you can give permission to others to post and edit photos on a shared folder, and other secure items are accessible in iCloud.  Don't worry, we still love you Apple.
