Strange files on my MAC.

I have certain files called userdata.img and system.img (NDIF Disk Image) amounting up 20GB on my MAC can i delete them or are they system files needed by the OS. I am currently using OSX Yosemite version 10.10.5 on  Mac Book pro retina

Where are they (the file path)?

not common to have these, I think.

/Users/**********/devtools/sdk/system-images/android-21/google_apis/x86_64/userd ata.img



No need for them?: delete them and empty the trash bin.



A bit late for an answer.

Those are part of the Android SDK.

If you develop Android apps, you will need them, if you don't just trash the Android SDK.

You can trash the entire "sdk" folder.

I've had the same files and have been afraid to delete them as well,

 

I found that they were part of the virtual machines created by Android Studio as device simulators,

Safe to delete(I have) but if you do get into android app development and want to use those simulators then you might have to download them again.
