Should I upgrade RAM and Storage of my MacBook ...

Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro 13" late 2011 (macOS Sierra 10.12.6)

- 2,4 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor

- 4 Go 1333 MHz DDR3

- Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 Mo

- HDD Serial ATA 500 Go (5400 tr/min)

I use my computer for basic tasks (Microsoft Office 365 , internet, movies etc.) but also for CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks etc.) and MAO (Ableton Live etc.). It starts to become increasingly slow and unsuitable for such uses as these softwares are demanding more and more very good configurations.

The question is simple:

Can I upgrade the RAM and storage of my macbook?

If the answer is yes, do you have any typical configurations (SSD models and RAM strips models compatible with my MacBook Pro 13" late 2011)?

How many giga of RAM can I add?

Or should I buy a new MacBook?

Thank you,

Kind regards,

Hi,

For heavy usage, a new MBP is definitely going to get the job done faster, but is obviously going to cost you quite a bit of money. You'll have to decide if the money is worth it not to have to wait as long for tasks to complete.

Both RAM and a SSD will speed things up on your current machine. Look to Macsales/OWC and Crucial for both. Your Mac can handle 16GBs of RAM.
