No black printing!

I have an issue where printing works, minus the black ink. Any black font shows as nothing, and coloured items are missing the black portion, resulting in off colour results and thin densities. Printing from various programs attempted with no difference.

History (of what I noticed).

Replaced ink in original printer with aftermarket brand - no black problem first noticed.

Replaced new ink with manufacturer brand - Issue remains (throughout following history..)

Bought new printer, assuming aftermarket ink ruined the original printer (different model, same brand) -

Reset printing system -

Restarted mac -

Pram reset and 'power' (?) controller reset -

New user created -

System reinstalled -

Font duplicates resolved with Font Book -

Font cache cleared with Terminal -

I'm at a loss and hope someone here can help..

test it with another computer could be a hardware defect or a ink cartiage which has dried out (one of the reasons I went with laser printers)
