email question

At the bottom of my email window, there is always a message that says "sending 5 of 5 emails, 2.7MB." The blue "status" bars is all the way to the right, indicating that the activity is complete.  This has been there for weeks. I don't show anything in my Outbox. I have 6 email addresses, and I have no way of knowing what mailbox this is supposedly going out from. Does anyone know how I can find out what is happening here, and, hopefully, how to prevent anything fishy from going on?
