My MacBook Air desktop is showing icons from my...

My MacBook Air desktop has the same icons on it as my Mac desktop.  Can I stop this without losing the other benefits.  How do I stop it?

If they show on the Mac and you use Back to My Mac, they should show.

Yes I do and anticipated your reply. I've turned it off on the MacBook and problem solved.  Thanks heaps.

You may know the answer to this one too. lol

If I use an external storage device such as a Time Capsule or a G-Drive can I access these anywhere if they are plugged in to my Mac as with iCloud
