watch face detaching

Just wondering whether anyone has experienced their watch face detaching.  Mine did the other day for no reason and it won't pop back on.  Now I need to send it away for repair.

It has been reported in the past, a few people have experienced it. If you have not done so yet, you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store to seek service, or you can contact Apple Support to see about sending the device in for service. Contact Support

I went to an Apple Store to ask to repair the watch with detached (but working screen) it seems to be a glue problem. Apple proposed to replace the screen for 270 Canadian dollars plus taxes to to buy a new one (series 1) for the same price. They recognized that what happened was not due to bad use. So it is a defect, but repairing price is too high.

Many thanks for your feedback, much appreciated

Yes, I have an Apple Watch. The lens just popped off for no reason a few days ago also. No abuse. Sapphire lens popped off watch case. Adhesive doesn't hold. I called Apple Support. I made an appointment with Genius Bar. All came back with the same response. We can send it in for repair at a cost of $249.00. I paid $600.00 for it 16 months ago. I would think this would last longer than 16 months. Watch still works. Just can't wear it any longer. I think $240.00 is outrageous to glue a lens back onto the watch case.

They don't glue it back, the replace the entire thing, minus your watch band. That is why it has to be sent off. You get a refurbished devices. You were outside your warranty on the watch.

Yes they don't. But the irony is that everything works. It is just detached parts we have to replace for $240! And it is not due to misuse. This is not only only anti economical, but is is also anti ecological. To repair is more economical and more ecological than to exchange. This is not only an issue for the wallet, but also for the environment. To throw away functioning parts doesn't please me. Especially if they can be repaired and especially if they didn't break due to miscunduct.

They do not throw away functioning parts. They recycle/refurbish the devices, like what you would receive. If you read much, you will find that Apple is one of the most ecologically friendly manufacturers on the planet. Most of their suppliers use renewable energy as well. The replacement is in your best interest as well, as it comes with a 90-day warranty as well.

I know that too, but it is difficult to argue against the fact that replacing instead of preparing a functioning device is not very ecological.

Plus I am happy to have a 90 days guarantee, but still, to screen is working and reparing it would be definitely better. Not to mention the cost of a 240 dollars for screen substitution after one year and 2 monts.... not very customer friendly

I agree fully. It just happened to my stainless gen 1. It appears to be a design flaw. If Apple had told me up front that the watch would last less than 2 years i never would have purchased it. For !$270 you would think they would offer the latest generation watch. Wonder if they havr changed the adhesive since ours sere manufactured
