Podcast User Interface on iOS11 for 5s

I have an iPhone 5s and just upgraded to iOS11.  Some of UI (user interface) changes are very good but there are instances where it has been poorly thought out or difficult to find options to adjust.

As you will see in the images the header and tile icons take over so much of the 5s real estate that one needs to scroll down number of times to get to right podcast.

The header alone must be taking 10% of the real estate.  (Oversized headers are apparent in other redesigned apps.)  Text size option in Settings has not effect

Icons are oversized and only in a tile format.

Does Apple or anyone know how to maximize real estate in Podcast app for improved usability esp on small format iPhones?  That is, option of reducing the font size of headers and providing the option of displaying a list of podcasts with smaller icons.

(Note: Getting a larger screen iPhone is not an appropriate solution.  This is a usability issue.)
