Sierra AFP Credential Window after Reboot

Starting with macOS Sierra, after a reboot, every time my backup application (SuperDuper!) attempts to mount my remote NAS/AFP resource, it pops a credential verification window:

The username and password pair is saved in my keychain, and this can be verified (every time) by clicking on the Connect button, and the resource is mounted.  Once the resource is mounted, obviously the program can access the resource without any issues.

As I shutdown my computer every night, I always need to click this "Connect" button each day, in order for my normally-fully-automatic backup to complete.

I've verified that things are okay in the keychain, and I also went into the Keychain Access and fiddled with the Access Control settings - both adding the application under "Always allow access by these applications," verifying that "Ask before allowing access" is not checked, and even trying with the "Allow all applications to access this item" feature enabled.  Same result.

This is clearly a behavior that has changed since macOS Sierra, as I've been using SuperDuper! to perform network backups for years, through four different Mac laptops.

To troubleshoot, I have:

1) Performed multiple reboots

2) Removed all keychain entries relating to this mount, to re-create them

3) Removed the SuperDuper! application, including all of its persistent settings, and reinstalled

I think, at this point, I've tried everything I can think of. I'm fairly technical, so if this is a known issue, I'm willing to perform reasonable workarounds to get this automatic backup working again. In my mind, it really should "just work" and if the behavior has intentionally been changed, I'll need to go back to the developer of SuperDuper! to figure out what the best way forward is.

Automatic backups aren't automatic if they require intervention every time they run.

Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. It's annoying that it's worked for years and now it starts prompting.

Yeah, not quite sure what the problem is, but I've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps so far and I hope someone can offer some guidance.  Automatic backups aren't automatic if they require interaction every time....

I have a building with 200 machines that I've upgraded to Sierra only to find that the home drives don't mount with AFP any more. I switch to SMB in the directory utility and it connects. Problem is we have users with multiple nestled folders with illegal characters that may give the end user fits when trying to copy up new files or folders (Not to mention no easy way to script the change to SMB. None that I've found yet at least.) I don't even know at this point if documents with illegal characters can be opened? ( When referring to illegal characters I am pointing out the restrictions on PC files that typically are shared or mounted with SMB.)
