Imac 7.1 ram upgrade problem

My Imac 7.1(Mid 2007 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Due)  has 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM hynix  card and  I order a 2GB  667 MHz DDR2 hynix card and the boot stop at black screen, if I just replace the 1 GB by the 2Gb, the boot goes ok.

I also try several combinations, but it goes ok using only slot 0.

Is the RAM certified to run on THAT mac or is it just some hynix RAM you found on line that did not specifically state it will work on THAT model mac?

If it is certified shut down, disconnect all external devices except OEM mouse and keyboard and reset the SMC

It generally takes considerably more force to fully seat a module into an unused slot, than it does to re-install a module into a pre-used slot.

Try placing the iMac face down using a soft cloth on a firm surface and push real hard with both thumbs to insure that both modules are fully seated in the slots. In some cases it helps to have a second person steady the iMac while your pushing with both thumbs.

Personally I would move the 1GB module to the un-used slot and put the new 2GB module where the 1GB module was.

After the SMC reset, I try reinstall the second card  (the original 1Gb) and it des not work, in fact I got  the  three "tom"  indicating RAM card probem, but this same card work fine on slot "0"

Yes, the card Apple certified.

I am try to use the 2Gb on the slot 0 and the 1Gb on slot 1 and try to follow the sugestion, but at end, got the same results

Sounds like you have a bad RAM slot.

Put the 2GB module in the working slot and run it with only 2GB of RAM.
