How to upgrade Notes?

I have an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. I'd like to be able to draw in Notes app. The Help article says to upgrade Notes, but I see nowhere to do that. Can anyone tell me where to upgrade Notes?

Never mind - there is a WikiHow article about it.

Problem is that to view the upgraded notes, you have to ALSO upgrade your desktop Mac to the latest OS.
