Malware

I was just installing a java update on my mac, and something popped up saying malwarebytes had quarantined a threat. I opened malwarebytes and looked at the quarantine and the file was called sponsors.framework. Because i was installing a java update at the time I was wondering if the file was really malware or if it was just part of the update that malwarebytes just mistook for malware? I did delete the file immediately.

Hi,

Google "java sponsors.framework" and you should find that it is indeed malware. Java has a history of sneaking adware and other things into the Mac's OS. Google "java bad for mac" or something similar and read about that history.

is there anything else i need to make sure its gone?

Malwarebytes does a pretty good job of ferreting things out. I don't know of any more. Do you need to use Java? It's been a long time since I've researched it, but I do remember it's on my permanent list of things never to use....
