Drag and Drop photos into email

Using the multi-tasking feature of IOS 11 on the iPad Pro, I can drag and drop photos into email messages (Outlook, Gmail, Mail) from Safari or the Photo app  The photos show up in the message body as I compose the email, but when I send the emails, the photos do not show up in the received emails.
