How do I delete a guest user account

I have a guest user icon on the log in page of my MacBook Air which has been insitu, unused, for a very long time.  I feel that as it is no longer used and I do not anticipate its being used   in the foreseeable future I would prefer not to keep it.   It seems tbat I am not authorised to remove it even though the mac belongs to me.   I also have an unnecaessary alternative      icon for my own log in use which I would also like to remove but again I do not seen to be authorised to do so.   Can anyone suggest how I might try to solve  either of these problems.

My system is El Capitan
