Cannot get mail

My email was coming through fine on my iPad until yesterday when out of nowhere I received a message that said "cannot get mail username or password for live are incorrect." They are definitely not incorrect. I am not computer savvy what do I have to do to fix this?

Try to go into the settings, mail, delete your mail account then re-add it.

SOmetimes I've experienced my e-mail accounts having an expiration date on the password....in other words it is right, however they want me to prove that it's right every few months. So it could be something as simple as that.

You won't need to change your password, just re-enter it

I just tried this, it then comes up "cannot get mail username or password for imap-mail.outlook.com is incorrect." So then I re-entered the password in both the incoming and outgoing mail server areas to make sure they were right and I got a message that says "this account may not be able to send or receive emails are you sure you want to save?"

So I had to go to live and reset my password. There was unusual activity on my email account yesterday at the time I  stopped receiving my emails. Someone was trying to access my account. Fixed now.
