mac infected with virus

yesterday while browsing on internet, a window saying that my Mac was infected by 3 virus opened, with the apple care logo. it was also saying that i have 2 min to resolve the issue by scanning and removing it.

i was doubtful but still i clicked on "scan now"

then i realized that this was not from apple but from MacKeeper to buy their product.

my question is am i at risk having clicked on "scan now"

Probably not - they can't actually scan your Mac unless you gave them permission to access it remotely - if you didn't they probably just faked a scan and claimed to have found something, to encourage to by their rubbish product. I assume you haven't done that. It's worth going into System Preferences>Security and Privacy and enabling the Firewall if it isn't already on.

Probably not with MacKeeper.  Download and apply Malwarebytes app for Mac and it should see off Mackeeper.
