adding a non purchased ringtone to itunes to gi...

My ringtone that I used in my iphone 6s did not show up in my new iphone 8 plus when I did the transfer of data to the new phone.   Itunes ringtones weren't highlighted to access and I've been trying to add it to the itunes library from my desktop.  Won't go.  So how do I get it into itunes so that I can sync it to my new iphone?
