iMac 27" 5K goes to sleep when navigating to we...

I have a late 2014 iMac 27" 5K that is going to sleep at unpredictable moments when I navigate to web pages with embedded video (CNN, ESPN...).  It can happen as soon as a video starts playing or maybe a minute or so into the video.

I took the iMac to the Apple Store to have them determine what was wrong and was able to reproduce the problem there.  The Genius Bar guy then booted my iMac off a clean server image of 10.12.4 and the machine when to sleep mode when a Netflix movie was played.  He determined that it wasn't corrupt files on my hard drive, maybe it was a bad logic board.  He then ran a full diagnostics on my logic board and memory and the results of those tests showed no hardware problems.  At that point, he ran out of ideas want was wrong.

I'm thinking maybe there is bug in 10.12.4 that is affecting 5K iMacs.  Is this happening to anyone else?

Rich,

By chance do you have any antivirus, cleaning apps or third party "maintenance" apps installed?

Get this App & report the GPU temps please...

No, I don't have any antivirus, cleaning, or maintenance software on the machine.  I've had the iMac since this version was released in 2014 and never had this issue until I upgraded to 10.12.  A month ago I thought maybe some of the OS files were corrupt so wiped the drive and reformatted and reloaded a fresh copy of 10.12 and the same sleeping problem came back.  That's why I'm leaning towards the OS being buggy with the iMac 5K.  Could this have something to do with the graphics card?  Mine is the AMD Radeon R9 M295X

Here are the requested temps.  Are they within the nominal ranges?

Hello there I have the same problem with similar product. Mine goes to sleep while working in photoshop or other programs. Did you have any solution?

Hi,

In searching for info and any possible solutions to this issue, you're the first person I have come across to mention the issue with Photoshop.  I am experiencing the very same problem: Computer display suddenly goes black then, after a few seconds....the fan stopssystem goes to sleep.  It wakes right back up upon pressing any key or spacebar on keyboard.   I have a 27" 5k (Late 2015) iMac.  At first, I thought the sleep issue had to do with my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet.  I believed it had to do with some sort of...corruption or driver issue from Wacom as the issue seemed to only take place when I was in the middle of an edit using the pen on the tablet. I contacted Wacom support and the suggestion was to change USB ports.  That didn't help.  Also, to update drivers. First, no driver updates were available.  Then,  a couple of weeks later, there was.  So, updated but still...the problem persists.  So...recently,  I gave up on thinking it was the tablet and have isolated it down to just PS. (I'm running PS CC 17 by the way.) I keep all my Adobe products up to date so...no issue there.   Recently,  while NOT in PS....the issue occurred.  I was watching a YouTube video.  That was the first indication that perhaps...it's not even PS.....BUT....PS was open even though I wasn't using it.  So....trying to deduce what the **** is going on.....I'm still convinced that it may be an issue involving PS but no longer do I think it's happening as a result of actions within PS while actually using it.  Long winded, I know.  But I just want to put out as much info as possible in efforts to hopefully come across anyone who may be able to relate to and more important......offer up a solution for.
