Where is "File Sharing" in iTunes???

Greetings,

I am going crazy trying to find "File Sharing" in iTunes. The iTunes Help instructions make no sense. They do not match the application. Where the heck is "File Sharing"?!

Thanks

ITunes Help

"Transfer files from your computer to your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad

Connect your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.

Click Apps.

Below File Sharing, select an app from the list, and click Add.

In the window that appears, select a file to transfer, and click Open.

The file is transferred to your device, and can be opened in the app you selected in step 3."

The File Sharing section appears after the end of the Apps section:

This will only apply for Apps that permit file sharing on an iDevice.

Hi,

I am trying to move an audio file created with the GarageBand app from my iPad to iTunes in my PC.

My iPad is currently displaying these directions:

"Tap to send your song as a stereo file to the iTunes File Sharing Area on your mac or pc.

When you sync your device with a Mac or PC, locate the File Sharing area under the "apps" tab in iTunes, then click garage band to see your exported song."

I cannot find the "apps" tab in my iTunes.  Do I need to buy the Garage Band app for my PC?

Thanks

You must first select the iPad in iTunes.

Your device must be plugged in- then choose the device, then the Apps synchronization section, then scroll until you see apps that can synchronize data to your computer. Good luck!

"Your device must be plugged in" To what?

Your device must be plugged into your computer.

You must plug the the to both pc and the device then go to iTunes you will see a button beside the iTunes store

it states the device that you've connected to your pc. "click it" there, you can see the "Apps" between "info" and "Music"

Taegan -

Since this topic is 3 years old I suggest you start your own topic on this forum, particularly as your question/response is somewhat cryptic.  Interfaces can change a lot in 3 years and what may be the answer in 2013 may no longer apply.  When you ask your question state clearly what it is you want to do, what you have tried (be precise as incorrect use of terminology can provide us with the wrong information), and what it is you do not understand.

It took me forever to figure out, however it is there...

Select your device

Under "Settings" choose Apps

Then you have to scroll down until you find "File sharing"

Choose the app you want to transfer from/to

This was noted 4 years ago in the 1st response to this thread...

TL;DR:

1) Open iTunes

2) Select your Apple Device at the top.

3) Click "Apps" on the left hand bar.

4) ****** SCROLL THE RIGHT PANE DOWN ******

---------------------------------------------------

Yea, so this continues to come up.

Here's what none of the instructions tell you:  There's a scroll bar on the right hand side of your screen when you click on "Apps" on the left hand side of the screen.

iTunes TERRIBLE interface on this page makes you think there's only one thing to do: Manage the apps on your iDevice.

HOWEVER if you SCROLL the RIGHT SIDE PANE down, you will get to iTunes File Sharing which is, effectively, hidden off the page under the "Apps" main screen.  The iTunes interface along with the break below the "Apps" interface at the top effectively makes it look like there is nothing else on this screen to do but manage apps on your iPad.

Yes, this continues to come up.  And it's STILL a problem 5 years later.

Oh, for crying out loud! Really??? This is still a problem five+ years later, and it has not been addressed?? Thank you SO MUCH Illydth, for the answer that finally was effective... scroll, scroll, ... bam! There it is!! *whew*
