Need help to download antivirus

I have been hacked twice this month. My bank said I have to get my computer an antivirus run asap to get a new account back up. I am running on a macbook pro 10.6.8 and I cannot get any apps to download. I try to upgrade and all the blogs and support on apple do not make sense, if I download a newversion it will not open or create errors. Can someone direct me how to update my software from a 10.6.8 to a higher? I been working on this all day and cannot get any where:(

Your bank are hiring idiots who haven't a clue about Mac, they appear to have more of a problem with their own systems before they recommend a course of action that will destroy yours.

. AV solutions for Mac are just going to case problems, their mayhem is well documented on this site.

What is leading you to believe you've been hacked?

You upgraded all the blogs on Apple do not make sense.  Your are correct; that sentence makes absolutely no sense.
