Wifi not working on iMac after internet outage....
I spent 4 hours with Comcast and Apple after my iMac wifi wouldn't work but Macbook Wifi would work. The problem was DNS settings were wrong on iMac. Even the Apple technical advisor didn't know this. I noticed when the DNS settings were different on Macbook and iMac. IDIOTS! I wasted 4 hours of time. Ask your advisor about wrong DNS settings if this happens to you.
The only way that should happen is if you are not using DHCP to supply the DNS information, which is NOT normal in most residential Internet service environments.
I was using DHCP, but I assume the outage wiped something out. My complaint is with Apple who had no idea to even check the DNS after 60 minutes on the phone.
Power outage should not be able to wipe that out. It's possible to use DHCP for addressing and static DNS servers. There are lots of legitimate reasons to do that. What was DNS set to?
