MacBook Air 13" 2016 Heating up in Idle state a...

Recently, I've noticed a problem where my MacBook tends to heat up for no reason at all even if kept in idle position. It stays around or above 50 degree Celsius. I play League of Legends (always when plugged in to the socket) on it but that's for a long time now and I never had any problems before.

What are my options ?

should I get it checked at an Apple Store?

should I reinstall OS or Should I wait for High Sierra first ?

ps: I reset my smc and also ran Apple hardware test with no problems. MacBook Air-2016. 4gb ram, 128gb SDD

Hi,

I would bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact. If you're still under warranty, get it done soon so it can be repaired for free if needed.

Regarding High Sierra, I wouldn't count on it to make things run cooler. New OSes are usually more CPU/GPU intensive, potentially making your Mac run hotter. And always get your Mac running the way it should be before upgrading to a new OS, as you may be just transferring issues to the new OS. If you think reinstalling may help, now is the time to do it; there's really no reason not to do it. As always, backup first.

I reinstalled my OS and its back to normal now.

The problem was possibly some app I installed within the past few days.
Thanks anyway
