battery or system

Hi,

So basically, last night when I closed(not turned off) my mac, it had about 10% battery left. Today when I opened again, it seems started installing something and then it had no battery left.

 

Does that mean my mac was operating something even though I put it into sleep?

 

Any way to check or prevent it?

You can find out which sleep mode your Mac is using by opening the Terminal application, located at /Applications/Utilities/. Enter: pmset -g | grep hibernatemode at the command prompt and then hit return.

 

You should see one of the following responses:

  • hibernatemode 0 = normal sleep and is the default for desktops
  • hibernatemode 1 = hibernate mode and is the default for older notebooks (pre-2005)
  • hibernatemode 3 = safe sleep mode and is the default for notebooks since 2005
  • hibernatemode 25 = same as hibernate mode, but for notebooks since 2005
