Remove "RimAlbumArtDaemon"

I am wondering if there are anyone who knows how to remove this RimAlbumArtDaemon from a Mac?

I installed Blackberry Desktop few days ago and noticed that this RimAlbumArtDaemon is consuming a lot of resources.

So I used CleanMyMac to uninstall the BBD, but RimAlbumArtDaemon still remains.

Any ideas on how I can remove this?

So I visted the BB Help Forum and I found this solution:

https://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-Mac/blackberry-daemo n-process-help/m-p/1374411/highlight/true#M7629

Solution:

1) If it's OK for you to uninstall the BB software from your Mac, delete it the usual way.

2) Then have a look at your HD at /Library/Application Support and delete the complete folder named "Black Berry"

3) Restart the system, empty the bin and everything should be fine.

(If there should be an error message "process BBdaemon ist running" while you're emptying the bin, try to open the activity monitor and kill the rimalbumartdaemon-process)

Running the Blackberry Desktop Uninstaller that comes with the software's DMG image seems to have removed it properly for me.

Oh my goodness, this was so helpful! It literally changed my macbook experience. My battery used to last 2 hours at full charge with no programs running and wi-fi off. Now it lasts 6-7 hours with normal use. Endless thanks, Marrto!

Here's what I do from terminal:

Using superuser:
sudo launchctl remove com.rim.BBDaemon
Using regular user:
launchctl remove com.rim.BBLaunchAgent
launchctl remove com.rim.RimAlbumArtDaemon

@karbhawono: thanks a lot.

launchctl remove com.rim.RimAlbumArtDaemon

Worked like a charm, thanks!!

It seems the name of this plist may have changed to com.rim.BBAlbumArtCacher.  I  wanted to keep the BB Desktop software around, but get rid of the problematic processes, so I ran:

launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchAgents/com.rim.BBAlbumArtCacher.plist

launchctl unload -w /Library/LaunchAgents/com.rim.BBLaunchAgent.plist

Thank you.  This is the only thing that worked for me.

Thanks Crocodile, that finally got rid of it.

Thanks so much for posting this question!! My Mac was hot all the time and the fan was always on!!! I was getting worried that it was going to crash!!! This solved my problem completely and I am so grateful to you and all the people on here for this great advice!!! Changed my laptop experience completely!!! Fan hasn't been on even once since I took it off!!! Blackberry has some serious glitches in their software!!! Glad I switched to Apple!!!

Thanks again everyone!!

Thanks ChefRogi!! Worked perfect and my computer is back to its perfect self once again!!! The fan and temperature were really stressing me out for a while there!!

Thank you so much, this has brought my old, old late 2008 MBP back to life. Thanks to everyone in here!

i am getting error message RimAlbumArtDaemon quit unexpectedly.

How i delete this message

Maybe you already uninstalled the Desktop Software but you didn't removed  successfully the com.rim.BBDaemon, com.rim.BBLaunchAgent and com.rim.RimAlbumArtDaemon files. The best (and quicker way) to do it is to do as karbhawono suggested:

Here's what I do from terminal:

Using superuser:

sudo launchctl remove com.rim.BBDaemon

Using regular user:

launchctl remove com.rim.BBLaunchAgent

launchctl remove com.rim.RimAlbumArtDaemon

If you already removed the files (check the /Library/Application/Black Berry folder) my only idea to reinstall the BB Desktop Software and run the uninstaller, or trying to run directly the uninstaller from the .iso file.

Please post the results or your solution!
