cannot delete certain email

I received an e-mail from an unknown person and I cannot delete it from the trash file.  The email cannot be moved from one folder within the email either.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of the thing?  Thanks

Did you try rebuilding the mail box that has the unwanted email? Click Rebuild under the Message heading in the Apple menu.

I have done that multiple times, and it works for a couple of message, but not for others. Are there any other suggestions?
