Mac Mail sync problems...?

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if Mac Mail is confused about its state relative to the mail server state. 

I am using Mac Mail to read my Yahoo Mail via IMAP. 

I am regularly (almost constantly) seeing messages like the one shown in the attached screen grab.  The messages indicate that Mac Mail is downloading messages.  But I'm wondering what messages it's downloading.  I don't see any new messages in any of the inboxes for any of the mail accounts I have configured. 

I also see a strange state for my Junk folder (see the second attached screen grab).  It indicates that there are 3 messages in my Junk folder.  But there are in fact none. 

I've tried exiting and restarting Mail a few times.  I'm wondering if somehow the Mail program state got messed up.  If so, what file should I delete to clear the state without deleting the configurations of my mail accounts?
