Apple Music iPod Touch iOS 11

Hello

I have family sharing and a family Apple Music account which works fine and have been looking forward to the ability to have shared playlists in iOS 11. 

I have downloaded the new software today, if I create a playlist on my ID it shows on all devices, including my wife’s iPhone (seperate Apple ID), but NOT on my son’s iPod. 

I tried logging in as myself on the iPod, still the same issue. 

Seems like an Apple Music app issue to me, it seems virtually unchanged from iOS 10, with no where to add friends etc. 

Is the iPod app different to iPhone and iPad? If so, I don’t really understand why???...
