How do I go about fixing my macbook pro?

It was acting normal 4 days ago but it suddenly shut down and then everytime I would reboot it, it would go to the loading screen with the apple and get stuck halfway. I would have to wait a hour for it to go to the login screen and then every few seconds it would get stuck and I couldn't move the cursor or type. Now I tried to reinstall ios through recovery and it would get stuck on 33 minutes. I tried to fix it via the disk utility but all I ended up doing was deleting the Macintosh that had all my files on it and now my disc utility only shows Internal > APPLE HHD > OS X Base System and I can't make a new image and it won't let me reinstall now. Should I be taking this to the apple store or can I just reinstall ios via a reboot disc/usb?
