My Mail wont accept my icloud password

Icloud was working perfectly on Mail - but since I added icloud onto my iphone the other and requested a device specific password, Mail started asking me for my icloud password. It wont accept it. It asks for the secruity code but there is nowhere to type the secruity code - I am runing Lion on my old machine. Now I cannot have icloud on Mail - I have to go to icloud webmail or use my phone only.

I tried a few suggestions from other posts but I cannot use icloud. I removed it and tried adding the account again - but now I have lost all my emails!

Is it a compatibility issue between Lion and the new secruity system????
